Mississippi State hosts Dec. 12 and 13 commencement ceremonies

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State fall commencement ceremonies for the university’s Starkville and Meridian campuses are set for next week.
The Starkville campus will host two ceremonies on Dec. 13—9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.—in Humphrey Coliseum. ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ-Meridian will celebrate commencement Dec. 12, 11 a.m. at the ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ Riley Center.
ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ President Mark E. Keenum is the university’s featured commencement speaker, and Lewis Fox Mallory Jr., a 1965 ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ College of Business graduate, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree during Starkville’s afternoon ceremony.
Those who wish to watch these events remotely can do so via the ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ TV Center’s livestream atÌý, the Mississippi State TV app, and the ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ Facebook page atÌý.
Attendance on Dec. 13 in Starkville will be limited to eight guests per graduate. Tickets are free and can be claimed by visitingÌý. Contact the Athletic Ticket Office at 662-325-2600 with any questions. An additional doctoral hooding ceremony in Starkville Dec. 12 is by invitation only. Attendees can park at Zacharias Village lot on Bailey Howell Drive with a shuttle service beginning 2 p.m.
Meridian campus fall graduates are assignedÌýsix tickets for guest seating in the theater. Doors open Dec. 12, 10 a.m., and only guests with tickets will gain entry to the theater. This year’s commencement also includes the Meridian campus’s inaugural doctoral graduates with three students walking across the stage. Free parking is available in the Arts District Parking Garage, 712 24th Ave. ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ-Meridian commencement information can be found atÌý.

The afternoon’s honoree, Mallory is the retired chairman and CEO of Cadence Bank and Cadence Financial Corporation. He played a pivotal role in the university’s negotiations for what is now the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park. Mallory also was named Alumnus of the Year by the College of Business in 1997, recognized as one of its 100 Most Distinguished Alumni during the college’s 2015 centennial celebration, and taught a bank management class at ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ for several years. Mallory is a past president of the ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ Foundation and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 1962.ÌýHe also is an emeritus member of the College of Business Executive Advisory Board. Mallory and his wife Gwendolyn have endowed seven scholarships for ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ College of Business students.
