STARKVILLE, Miss.—“Transform Your Life: Using Natural Instincts to Achieve Health and Happiness” is the title of a new book by Ben R. Abadie of Mississippi State’s kinesiology department.

A 27-year university faculty member in the College of Education’s largest academic unit, the exercise physiology professor said his goal is to help empower individuals to take control of their personal health by providing insights on fitness, healthy nutritional habits and psychological and social health issues.

Positive lifestyle choices are critical, he emphasized, “because if you don’t have health and happiness, you don’t have anything.”

Published by Starkville-based Basic Research Press, his 174-page guide includes nutritional counseling information. Aerobic, muscular flexibility and strength training routines also are covered.

To complement the book, his guidelines for health-enhancing yoga, meditation and progressive relaxation exercises—all of which can be performed at home—are available free at .

Copies of “Transform Your Life” are available at Starkville’s Book Mart and Café, 120 E. Main St. To reserve a copy, telephone 662-323-2844.

Also, during the Starkville OCH Regional Medical Center’s Health Fair taking place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday [May 11], Abadie will discuss the book and answer other health and fitness questions. For information on future presentations, contact him at bra1@colled.msstate.edu.
